Make Us Drool for World Responsible Tourism Day 2013!

Here at Urban Adventures, we love responsible travel. From using local tour guides to preserving local culture and customs, we support all forms of travelling responsibly. November 6th 2013 is WTM World Responsible Tourism Day, and we’re going to have a little fun showing our support…and we want you to get involved!

One of the best things about responsible tourism is that it encourages us to buy and eat locally wherever we go, which leads us to finding some of the tastiest food on the planet. Whether it be fresh fruit and vegetables from a local market, or seafood pulled right from the ocean that morning, you can find locally-sourced produce everywhere, and because it’s so fresh it’s almost always delicious.

For two weeks – from October 21st to November 3rd – we’re asking you to post your photos of the freshest food you’ve ever eaten on your travels, and tag them with #UAFresh on Facebook or Instagram. Don’t forget to also tell us the story behind the picture and where you took it! We’ve got six Urban Adventures gift cards up for grabs for the best photos, so choose your entry wisely and you could save on your next Urban Adventure!

Intrigued? You can find all the details here.

We’re looking for anything from the weird and wonderful, to the simply scrumptious – as long as the food in your photo is responsibly-sourced, you’re free to be as creative as you like. It can be food you had at a local restaurant, a picture of a market you wandered through, or food you cooked yourself with local produce; the possibilities are endless. From traditional dishes cooked the local way, to those bizarre bites you don’t find anywhere else on the planet, we’re dying to see what you’ve munched on across the globe.

To give you a bit of inspiration, our staff and local partners have been getting in on the action, and here are a few of their very own photos…

The Prague team are very lucky to have a chef in their group, and here's some Hokkaido soup whipped up from Farmer's Market ingredients - even the bread!

If that’s not enough, we’ve also got a Pinterest board packed full of foodie photos from across the globe, just to give you a taster of the kind of thing we’re looking for.
