Getting To and From MEL
SkyBus is pretty much the only economical way into town from the airport. Just buy a ticket out front of the airport and you’re good to go.
Adult return: approx. $30 AUD
Adult one-way: approx. $18 AUD
In general, buses run every 10 to 15 minutes, and the trip takes about 20 minutes and SkyBus operates 24/7, including public holidays.
Getting Around Melbourne
Metro: The Metro will get you everywhere you need to go in Melbourne. Never used it before? Here’s some handy info for first time users. And here are all the maps of the various networks, just to help you get around even easier.
Tram: The City Circle Tram is a free tram service that operates in the city centre (CBD). It runs in a circle and passes many of the major tourist attractions. It’s both the best and worst thing about Melbourne – free, but always crowded!
Taxi: Use the SilverTop smartphone app for your Melbourne taxi needs. Available on: iPhone, Android, Windows, BlackBerry.
Things To Do In Melbourne
If you haven’t been to the MCG, you haven’t been to Melbourne. Try as best as you can to catch a football game here on a Friday night, as it’s a pretty definitive Melbourne experience. Ticket info is here.
